Ferret T-Shirts

Cupcake and Daisy, originally uploaded by Edge of Dementia.

Well, I finally setup a CafePress store so I can put some of my favorite ferret photos on t-shirts, hoodies, and other goodies. I just can't resist the idea of showing off these fuzzy faces around town.

I'd love to hear about other ferret related CafePress stores and (ferret related) t-shirt shops, so I can put together a list of links to fun places to find ferret stuff for people.

Princess Buttercup

Princess Buttercup, originally uploaded by Edge of Dementia.

Buttercup was the first ferret that we adopted from Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter. We went there for the first time in 2002, for an open house, and I instantly fell in love with her. We specifically did not bring a carrier, because we were just going there to look (haha).

She was one of five starving ferrets that were abandoned. The shelter named them after the characters on Friends. Joey was a blaze, Ross and Chandler were albinos, and Rachael was this beautiful dark eyed white. I believe there was another female that was adopted before we arrived. The three boys were already spoken for, and everyone warned me that Rachael was nippy.

She was actually sweet and friendly from day one, and she instantly bonded with Miss Daisy. She does bite toes, if she wants attention, and we have spoiled her by picking her up when she bites. When you pick her up and she is as sweet as can be. She is a bit of a diva, so we named her Princess Buttercup and it really suits her.

She is also one of those rare ferrets that will eat anything, and when we first got her she would eat until she fell asleep. Jean told us that she was starved and they almost lost her when they first got her. She was stealing watermelon when I saw her at the shelter.

Ferret Friends

I am the volunteer webmaster for our local ferret shelter, Ferrets Unlimited, in Cleveland, Ohio. Like most animal shelters, Ferrets Unlimited struggles to make ends meet every month.

I have decided to create a Ferret Friends list, which I will post prominently on this site, and the Ferrets Unlimited web site. This list will include the name of any individual or business that is willing to make a donation to the shelter. They are a registered charity, so if you make a donation directly to them, it is a tax deduction.

As long as your Web site is not naughty in any way, I will include also include a link to your Website, if you have one. This is a wonderful deal for a business, because you would be receiving free advertising, in exchange for a tax-deductible donation.

If you are interested, please visit the Ferrets Unlimited website, where you may use their paypal button, or contact them directly for information about sending a donation to the shelter or their veterinarian.

To be added to our list, please contact me, telling me that you made a donation and what information you would like to be included on our list. I'm using the honor system here, as I do not handle donations.

If you are unable to make a financial donation, there are plenty of other ways you can help or volunteer, either at Ferrets Unlimited, or your local shelter.

FerretWorld vs Burberry

The Independent reported today that overpriced fashion retailer, Burberry is up in arms over a small UK store called FerretWorld selling ferret clothing and advertising it as being in the style of Burberry.

The one thing that Burberry accomplished by this is providing a lot of free press for Ferret World. I can appreciate that Burberry wants to protect their branding and trademarks, but I can't help but giggle over this story.

This reminds me of the recent story where the U.S. Olympic Committe forced the ferret olympics to change their name.

What do you think of all this fuss?

Ferret Photography

Burt, originally uploaded by Edge of Dementia.

I created a new Ferret Photography group at flickr. Stop by, tell us about your fuzzies, and share your favorite ferret photos.

If you are unfamiliar with flickr, it is a wonderful place to share photographs.
