Cricket

Cricket, photographed by Julianne Gentile.

Cricket is one of the ferrets that we met at Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter in Cleveland, OH. She is such a sweety. There are over 80 ferrets there and the shelter is in dire need of supplies, volunteers, and most importantly good homes for the ferrets.

Have you visited a local ferret shelter lately? Apparently the situation is the same all over the place. More pet stores are selling baby ferrets to people who are not prepared to care for them, and more and more people are either dumping them out the back door (or worse), or taking them to shelters.

Please consider visiting your local ferret shelter, or other animal shelter if you have time this summer. I'm sure they would appreciate any help you can offer, even if it is just dropping off a package of paper towels.

The AFA has shelter listings for the U.S., Canada, and New Zealand.

She is a sweetheart. I adopted two ferts last week from Rocky's Ferret Rescue & Shelter. I'll also be volunteering!

Just wanted to let everyone know that adoption is such a wonderful thing! We just adopted our 6th ferret, Klaus, and we just couldn't be happier! Klaus is a chubby albino who was given up by his previous owners who brought him in because of health problems due to feeding him DOG FOOD. After some wonderful TLC at the shelter, and a great foster mom, Klaus has finally found a perfect home with my fiance and I...with plenty of FERRET FOOD!
