Ferret Cafe is the online guide to living with domestic ferrets. Ferrets are fragile creatures and require a great deal of care. Unfortunately, ferrets are often sold at pet stores without any information regarding the healthcare and animal husbandry that is required. This lack of knowledge and preparation is the cause of the majority of ferret ailments, accidents, and owner surrenders.
The Ferret Cafe website provides a comprehensive guide to the care and feeding of pet ferrets written by veterinarians and other experts. In addition to educational information, the site includes recommendations for high quality ferret cages, bedding, food, toys, treats, and other supplies. It also includes community tools such as links to family ferret sites, shelters, organizations, and clubs, and a community forum. Ferret enthusiasts enjoy the opportunity to shop for ferret-related products and gifts. In addition, a section of the site covers ferret health care and a directory of small animal veterinarians who specialize in ferrets.
We also work with breeders, pet stores, and shelters so that they may recommend our website as the starting place for new ferret owners to find educational information, coupons, and special product offers.
This website was developed as part of an undergraduate project. While the assignment required only a prototype, I am continuing to develop this site. Currently, it is a work in progress.
